My mother, T. Padmhasini is going to be actively involved in educating 100 kids in and around the slums of Thiruvanmiyur and Kovalam. At least 5-8 years ago, it was my mothers idea that I and some of my fans visit Kovalam village each weekend and teach the kids English, singing and find out what else they may like. We used to go in two cars, some 8 of us. I took Amar Chitra Katha comics, (because as a child that was my greatest English teacher). We helped in the right intonation and mom completely handled the music classes. Sadly the gentleman who was organizing this for us, which lasted a few months, faced some family troubles and he was not available in the village for a considerable period of time. When I was in 6th or 7th standard, mom and I went to Olcott Memorial school in Besant Nagar and mom taught them music and basic meditation. Now that I am married mom has been planning on launching this in a full-fledged manner for a few months now. The official announcement shall happen on the 26th January 2015. It has been her dream to shape the future of a 100 kids [her dreams were never small :) and fortune favours the brave] and I am sure there will be some super talented kids in the future in music. I told Amma I dont want to be involved in her project for the very simple reason that it is her brainchild and the people/media usually use the more famous persons name to push the article. I know I am not going to be giving even a fraction of the amount of time my mom will invest and neither is it my idea.Even though I said nothing about this, a PRO in all his best intention, tweeted that Chinmayi is going to educate a 100 kids and was kind enough to correct it immediately. It will be difficult to remove the first impression and I dont want to take credit for anything anyone else has done, least of all my mother. My mother has invested her the last 30 years of her life on me. I can do nothing to pay her back. Least I can do is not steal the thunder for her work :) Her career starts anew :)
