My motion opposing the Governments proposal to force the Council to collect unpaid water charges from Council tenants was passed at tonights Council meeting. Only FG opposed/abstained. Submitted By: Councillor E. Ó Broin This Council opposes any attempt by central Government to involve the Council in the collection of water charges from our tenants. We call on the Minister for Environment Alan Kelly to withdraw his proposal to place a legal obligation on Councils to recoup water charge arrears from Council tenants.
