My mum goes to church frequently (usually more than once a week). She is 80 and changed to going to Hanwood mass on Saturday night as she feels she comes out with more from his masses. Now this is an older parishioner from a strict Italian Christian background. Fr Neru officiated at a relatives funeral where other priests wouldnt because he committed suicide. Some in the Catholic Church believe that there is help for these people so they shouldnt commit suicide. They really have no idea. I was bought up going to church every Sunday and would get in trouble if I didnt sit quietly. I continued to go to church for years after I married until 3 things happened which made me leave the church. Walking into church one day theres a petition. YES a petition at church! When I looked at it it was against Stem Cell Research. This treatment could in the future cure many diseases, disorders and we believed help my sons disability. There was a couple more incidents that the church allowed that I couldnt accept. I still believed as strongly as ever and still to this day my faith in god has not wavered. I pray and often talk to god and my faith as well as fr Amituanai Neru got me through many tough days. It is Fr Neru who has made me feel comfortable and happy to go to church again. I dont go often but when I go I leave feeling happy and fulfilled.
