My name is Dean. I am only two years of age and yet, I have already been through so much. When I first came to Soi Dog, I was in a lot of pain and I did not look good. I was found with a very nasty wound on my neck. It had been there for some time but as a street dog with no owner, I was alone. There was nobody to look after me or take me to a vet. Over time, my wound got worse and worse. I am not even sure what caused it but the vets suspect I was stabbed. Because the wound didn’t get treated, it became very badly infected. I was in so much pain until I was brought to Soi Dog. At the shelter, the vets took a look at my wound and saw that it was full of dead maggots. They cleaned it all out for me and have been doing the same every day. They want to make sure I get better very quickly. No humans have ever been nice to me before and I am not sure what I am supposed to do. I don’t like it when the vets clean my wound. I am still scared. When other Soi Dog humans come to spend time with me, I am not sure what to do either. I decided that if they sit quietly on the floor beside me, I will let them pat me on the head. I am starting to like it. The Emergency Response Team is another group of humans that I like very much. They are Soi Dog supporters, whose monthly donations meant I could be taken to the shelter and saved. I don’t want to think about what would have happened without them. I do think about the other dogs and cats that are still in need of help and it makes me sad. Can you please help them? All you have to do is join the Emergency Response Team.
