My name is Debra Thomas. My youngest daughter was killed in a motor cycle accident less than a yr ago. She is buried at Oak Hill Cemetery. There are no laws or restrictions in place and people are using the paths to walk their dogs. I find this very, very offensive. To allow your dog to relieve itself (even just to pee) on the graves of someone is unconscionable. Male dogs especially just hike and pee on the flowers, benches and headstones. I complained to Mr. Pike who is over this city owned cemetery several weeks ago. I felt like I was blown off or even disbelieved. His comment was well its not against the law. I went yesterday to put fresh flowers and the same lady was there again. Not only there, but her boxer bull dog was actually standing on top of my daughters grave. Needless to say I was LIVID and less than lady like. I have again called Mr. Pike, the mayors office and had blown social media up with this story. SURELY there is something that can be done about this situation. Even dog parks expect you to bring a pooper scooper and clean your pets mess up. This lady had nothing, NOTHING in her hands to clean up after a dog with. I asked her why in Gods name she was walking her dog in the cemetery and her exact words were because it was fresh and no other dog had been there While there may not be a LAW saying you cant do this - how hard would it be to put up a NO PETS sign. This ladys name is PJ Magik and I am attaching pictures where you can clearly see the graves behind her. When I went to take her picture she actually posed. In the name of all that is good.... I am still steaming.
