My name is Matt Gwilym. I am a member of Gosforth Harriers running club. I would be extremely grateful if you could bring this message to the attention of all of your club members and encourage as many people to donate to our cause where they can. The event we are planning to do is in aide of Drew Graham, a long time member of our club who moved to America to pursue a Scholarship. Drew went on to win 15 American national titles and a range of other achievements in an illustrious college running career, before going on to become a cross country coach. A couple of months ago he had a terrible accident, and suffered instant paralysis. He is beginning the long road to recovery and needs as much help as possible for his rehabilitation and treatment in the USA. To summarise what we are doing, myself and a team of approximately 11 other runners from our running club are planning to run from Whitehaven to Tynemouth (coast to coast) in order to raise as much money as we can. All members of the team will run 4 legs of 5 miles, so in all we will do approximately 20 miles each. Total distance covered will be in the region of 140 miles. We start at midnight on 6th December and aim to finish in less than 24 hours.
