My name is Mondingo. I am a sweet little girl about 35 or 40 lbs. and about 1 ½ years old. I think that I had a nice family taking care of my at one time in my life, because I am well-behaved and people tell me that I have a very friendly personality. I don’t remember my family anymore. That was a long time ago. I was “put out” by my family. They just decided they didn’t want me anymore, and dropped me off from their car on the side of a dirt road. I was frightened, and didn’t know how to take care of myself. I had to search for food and water, and shelter, and protect myself from predators. I heard other dogs getting shot at, so I had to hide in the bushes and in ditches sometimes. Finally, a kind rescue worker found me one day and took me to get food. She called Tails of Courage and asked if they would take me. That is how I ended up on a very long transport to Connecticut. Tails of Courage has taken me to a lot of adoption events, but no one wants me. Some people say that I’m not very pretty. I think they named me Mondingo because I look like a wild dog from Australia. No one knows what my parents were at all. I have a kind temperament of a lab, but I have a TON of energy. I especially love to RUN!! But, I don’t run away. I love to run alongside someone. If I lived with a family of runners, I would be in my glory. Or, if I lived with children who like to run around, I could run with them forever. Even though I’m about 1 ½ years old, I still have the energy of a puppy. I love other puppies. When I go to the adoption events, TOC often puts me in with the puppies because I love playing with them all. I LOVE playing with children too. Puppies and children; that’s like Heaven to me! Did I mention that I LOVE people? I just want to be around puppies, and children, and people. Ohhhh, and if there is water nearby, I’m in! Swimming and running and an active family would be a dream come true for me. If anyone is interested in a loyal, active, friendly companion, I would be a great choice. I have watched lots of my rescued friends get adopted, while I’m still at the kennel. Could someone find it in their heart to love me? I have lots of love to give back.
