My name is Rob Kimble, and I am a volunteer at the Omega Prison in Malvern, AR. The Omega facility serves as the destination for felony probation violators for all of Arkansas. Due to that fact, I have the opportunity to minister to men from across the entire state for a period of 60 to 120 days. I am blessed to witness the power of the Holy Spirit work on many of these men during this desperate time in their life. During this brief period of time, I get to walk with them as they learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ, come to acknowledge their need for forgiveness, witness genuine repentance, and celebrate with them upon their acceptance of the gift of salvation from our Lord. It is about this period of their walk with God when their time expires at the Omega facility, and they are released back to the same Godless environment in which they came from. This is the problem that God has put upon my heart along with a vision to organize and implement a mentorship program for these new believers. This is the purpose of my letter to you. I am requesting that you will inquire from God in your prayers and see if your church is called to mentor released inmates in your area. It is my hope to have a God-fearing man in each city, with the support of their church, willing to serve as a spiritual mentor to these men upon their release. This effort to organize a referral system across the state is in its infant stage, so the need exists in most cities. At a minimum, we are looking for someone willing to interact with ex-inmates to invite and welcome them to their church. It is our hope to build a network of believing ex-inmates to encourage and help each other grow in the Word of God all across Arkansas. I hope that you will consider this opportunity for your church.
