My name is Tom Crothers and I am the sole Director of Stellar Advisory Services Pty Ltd - a consultancy business that specialises in rural water matters. I am opposed to the development of the Galilee Basin mega-mines for the following reasons:- a) the huge amounts of water that will be extracted for mine de-watering operations by the 5 approved mines is not sustainable. b) the impacts of the mine de-watering operations on the water supplies of local landholders will be very serious. and c) the continued failure of the Queensland Government to develop a groundwater hydrology model to assess the cumulative impacts of these approved mines on the Regions groundwater aquifers(including the GAB) and the water supplies of local landholders.
