My neighbor has a birdfeeder in their backyard. Im not a bird lover so I see it as an annoyance that so many birds hang out like theres a club back there. This weekend I noticed that hardly any birds were there. I looked over the fence to see a hawk killing and eating a pigeon. I suppose the hawk saw the club as a buffet. I thought about the saying, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Sometimes the unintended by-product of a good deed is tragic. Any intervention for the good of society must be thought through. Systems have the uncanny ability to adapt in order to survive. The status quo is not so easy to subvert as you may think.
