My nephew, Julian, recently graduated from Michael Hall, one of the oldest and most established Waldorf schools in the UK. I have my sisters permission to share part of the letter she wrote us, as a way of introducing this video. Im so proud of him and so happy about the quality of education he got. Heres what Sarri wrote: This is a Class 12 tradition for many European Steiner schools. They visited historic cities and towns looking at architecture and art. At certain moments, each student shared his/her knowledge on certain works of art they had chosen to study in previous months. Quite often, members of the public gathered around them to listen to their presentations, thinking they were part of museum staff. The students, with their two guardian teachers, also sang spontaneously in piazzas and churches, observing their acoustic qualities. Wherever they sang, people gathered around them and many wept. One musician even offered to compose something for them. Julian relates one memorable evening in Milan about 9-10pm, when they sang in two fairly deserted piazzas and made 90 euros in 30 minutes! They were slowly making their way back to the hostel, stopping here and there to sing, and somehow people kept appearing out of nowhere… This is Waldorf Education at its best. Enjoy.
