My new HP computer arrived with two DVI ports and no HDMI ports - TopicsExpress

My new HP computer arrived with two DVI ports and no HDMI ports although I already owned an HP HDMI monitor. I looked back at the build menu online. I had ordered standard, built-in graphics. On re-reading, I realized that there was absolutely no description of what kind of ports that included. The three optional, extra-cost graphics cards all detailed their available ports: VGA, HDMI, DVI everyone. I had assumed that the default internal graphics would have the same ports. Nope. Just VGA and TWO Dvi ports. Using the built in graphics would force me to not only buy a new DVI Monitor (bigger with higher resolution than HD would cost me almost half the price of the computer). Instead, I called HP to return the computer, and got to talk with a very pleasant young lady. You could tell she was used to calming down customers when I expressed my dismay that any computer would first of all not list the ports included when you place your order, but then arrived with TWO, count them, TWO DVI ports. She apologized (not her fault) and agreed to give me a return order and offered to have FedEx pick up the computer from my house on the next day. Then she asked if would be willing to have her enter the order again with the HDMI graphics card installed for $100 more. I tentatively said yes, then I said, I really didnt want to wait for another 2 to 3 weeks for a rebuild. She asked me to hold on. Then she came back and asked if it would be alright for them to credit the cost of a graphics card to my account, and then I could buy one locally to install myself. I thought that this was a great idea, so I accepted the offer. It saved HP money, and it saved me time and money. More on the graphics card installation in another post.
