My new beginning... Many of you know, Ive been a supporter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society for the past 25 years. They asked me to help with their read-a-thon and annual walk, back when I was a news anchor in Springfield. I gladly accepted because two of my beloved aunts had MS. My Auntie Peg (my dads sister) and my Godmother Auntie Lil (my moms sister). Interestingly, they were best friends growing up and were in each others wedding parties. Both got married, had children...and then got MS. We lost Auntie Peg two years ago and Auntie Lil this past summer. There is a little less light in our lives having lost two women who were beautiful examples of how to take the bad hand they were dealt and continue to live life with an abundance of strength, love and laughter. So, when the MS Society was looking for a media relations person, I thought, heres my chance to do something to help other people with MS and their families. I am happy to announce I have taken the position with the MS Society. I will still be working with the wonderful folks at NECN on the show DC Dialogue, but my full time passion now is telling the story of people with MS and those working to cure it. Heres to you Auntie Lil and Auntie Peg!
