My new but used 4X4 was delivered today at 2:45!!!! It had lots of work done and it came with brand new tires that were less than an hour old. I always knew some people shouldnt drive trucks, and by 3:15, I knew I was one of those some people. My parking spur is curved like the arm of a Saguaro cactus, so I have to come in at an angle then straighten out. I had a short wall built to hold up earth so we could flatten the dirt to make a parking spur. Somehow I managed to not only lodge the truck on my brand new wall-running over two caps in the process, but I gashed up the front right tire, and buried the rear tires in the soft dirt. I tried and tried to remedy my situation, but I didnt want to roll down the hill or hit the tree on the other side, only to have it fall on my new truck, nor did I want to go over the wall backwards, so I concluded I was in quite a bind, and left it, hoping it would correct itself. So I called the contractor who built the wall, who has also lived on the mountain all his life and drives a 4X4. I explained my situation, and explained how I love that wall and already ran over two caps, and didnt want to further damage either my new/used truck or the brand new wall, its not insured yet, and would he be sooo kind as to dislodge my truck and park it correctly, next time he was in my neighborhood. Well guess what? He loves that wall too, so he came by with his beastly chevy truck and a heavy duty chain within an hour, and soooo easily got me dislodged without further damage to the wall or my new/used truck, and the tree is still intact. I learned sooo much!!! 1) Ya cant have the front wheels cranked and expect to back up, 2) this truck has power and 4 4WD gears and I should use them. 3) I need to read the owners manual, 4) I need to stay all the way to the left and hug the tree, and 5) Dont pull too far in, 6)wall caps are only $1.36 each. If I didnt live in a snowy terrain, I would never need a 4X4, but my cats always need a vet in the worst weather, and I may need food or a Dr. in snow, so Id rather be safe than sorry. My new but really used now truck is a 98 Dodge Durango (4X4), with custom exhaust, CD plyr(!!) and cassette (remember 1998!!) a stealthy V8 monster motor, leather interior in exc condition, and the wine colored paint is decent, I wont need to park in the middle of nowhere, which really doesnt exist anywhere in So. Cal. anyway; its also got the outside temp displayed (really, in 98 they offered this?) and more importantly, a compass (I am directionally challenged!!!). The heater works, and all the seats fold down. (I dont want anyone to think Im a soccer mom!!!) So heres some pix for those of you who are laughing, or who are experienced off road drivers!!!
