My new favorite assist - band pull aparts. This simple exercise, when performed correctly will target the muscles of the upper posterior chain - the rear deltoid, medial and lower traps, rhomboids, lats and several other stabilising muscles. Concentrate on retracting your shoulder blades (imagine youre squeezing a pencil between them) and externally rotating your shoulder joint (pull them backwards and down) avoid activating the upper traps (shrugging). This will drastically increase upper back strength to help posture, shoulder balance and will assist your squats, deadlifts, bench press and military press. Cheers, Jeremy.
