My new movie script: We go hard About an NBA basketball player who is 41, still playing, still team leader but slowing down. Team has always been Championship potential but never had success in the post season. He wants to retire, but the team president (up until the year before the coach of the past 18 years, only been his coach) asks him to stay on as there was a big trade of the leading scorer and rebounder, and they got a draft pick for him. They end up with the number one pick and decide to get the best point guard in College to replace the retiring player. They start off fighting for the starter spot, the rookie is 19 and a black panther, the old pro is a guy from Arkansas, married since 20 and with a daughter same age as the rookie, and after all star break work it all out together. They become close, and take the team to the big dance. Sub plots: new coach: doesnt like the fact old fella is the favorite of the president. New rookie is against white coaches, believes NBA is run by whites, blacks players, like a plantation. Old fell: thinks rookie`s attitude is nuts have to somehow find common ground to work together ends up they become father/ son, old fella likes him so much pushes daughter to get to know him. old fella falls apart in playoffs, injuries and age gives in. young rookie takes charge, listens to everything old fell says, sticks up hard for him when old fella gets hit hard by other team in order to injure him enough to be forced to sit out.
