My newest KINDLE E BOOK (author Edward Wagner) --- December 1941 -a Hawaiian girls diary -----has already received a 5 STAR review and a really nice write up. Joan talked me into making it a series and I am around 1/2 way done with---- January 1942 a Hawaiian girls dairy ---- I never knew these facts about Hawaii -- Military rule was implemented shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Under the conditions legally imposed by the Military were: Wages were frozen at the December 7, 1941 level – Workers were forbidden to change jobs without permission of the Employer – All unemployed workers had to accept jobs as directly by the military – Absenteeism was punishable by fines and or jail – all labor contracts were suspended – and the Plantation owners “loaned” out their employees to the military – the owners were paid 62 cents per hour from the government but only paid the workers 41 cents an hour.
