My niece did a clean-up of her little girls toys a while ago and brought all the soft toys to me to find new homes for it. There are many disadvantaged children in our community but somehow it did not feel right to go donate to them and I felt that just maybe this should go to the Geriatric Clinic where my mother in law spent her last 10 years due to severe Alzheimers. On the morning 2 weeks ago when my mother in law passed away I grabbed the bag full of toys and took it along when I went to say a last farewell to her. I wish you could see the reaction of the sister in charge when I walked in there with that bag full of stuffed toys. She was overwhelmed and as she unpacked she knew exactly whom each little stuffed animal or doll would be given to. She could not stop thanking me, telling me the story of each person these toys were going to be given to. Much as it was a sad time in saying farewell to ma-Anna, it was also a blessing to know the blessing that could be passed on by a small token of obedience. Not everything the Lord tells us to do is hyper spiritual, sometimes it is something so simple and mundane that it might easily be overlooked or ignored. Remember, the Lord knows everybodys needs, not only ours and sometimes what somebody else needs may look really insignificant to us but the Lord knows the gap it may fill in empty arms and empty hearts. We know that nothing is too difficult for Him and that His arm is not too short to help but sometimes it is also necessary to remember that nothing and nobody is too simple or unimportant for Him to take care of their needs and when He calls us we had better take note and obey or we may end up missing out on the great blessing of seeing His love and care in action.
