My niece posted something tonight that really jarred the old cobwebs from my mind. Back when I was a kid, I did everything with my brother. We played baseball, watched TV, walked to the beach, ran around the neighborhood, and in the winter spent a great deal of time totally immersed in the official Minnesota state sport- hockey. Wed shovel the pond clear of snow, and skate and wing the puck back and forth, even if we had no one else there to scuffle with. Wed go watch games with our uncles and of course on TV. As we grew older he began playing on the local teams and I moved on to basketball. Then, I moved away, and lost almost entirely that hockey fever, living in states that could never compare to MN for its love of hockey. I miss that and sitting on the benches next to him.
