My non-Cuban friends may want to see how the city where I grew up looked like up to the time I came to college in the U.S. I refuse to show you how it looks today; it is too sad a transformation. The first two pieces in the musical background (the first 3:20 min) are called danzón, music my parents and grandparents danced to. It dates back to the late 19th century and it was still popular among young people in my day. The third piece is a bolero, music my parents and my generation danced to. Still popular today. Quality of the photos and video clips is not great, but the images are. Only wish I could narrate it for you!
