My notes from todays meeting with Daz Guerin about Winterville 2014 ————————————————————————————————— The event website has been updated and is worth checking out winterville.co.uk One of the concerns has been the duration of the event this is the organiser’s application I did not seek to change it. The parts of the event will close down sequentially starting with the children’s area at dusk ending with the 400-person capacity Spiegeltent at 11pm it will not be 4000 people leaving at one time and the exit at Crown Gate will be stewarded. There has been discussion with the LBTH noise team, I expressed concern about bass noise but it is not a multi stage event and I do not believe a 400 capacity tent will cause noise issues for local residents any more than circus tents on the same site have been. Lighting will be appropriate and festive. I raised concerns about the damage to the Lido Field – LBTH say drainage has been installed; substantial areas of hard standing will be in place for the event. The enclosing fence will be up 26th November > 4th of January but the area is wholly within the Lido Field and accessed from the Haul Road no cycle routes are affected. The organisers have been preoccupied with planning but local traders will be contacted for participation I passed on the VPTA / Caroline’s contacts, there is also the contact details for traders is on the website. Tower Hamlets children are the chorus for the pantomime and discounts for the paid for attractions are available to both LBTH and Hackney E9 residents. We have the opportunity to do a VPFG Winter Celebration on a Saturday afternoon. There will be support for local charities I suggested St Joseph’s Hospice I will be contacting our friendly choirs about singing in the Town Square. The organisers aspire to make this an annual event were the event to cause problems for local residents the likelihood of it happening again would be affected. To me it looks like a good event the free children’s activity being a particular feature, there will as always be a variety of opinion and I understand that there are reasoned objections that will be made.
