My number one challenge with being a new mum, next to sleep - TopicsExpress

My number one challenge with being a new mum, next to sleep deprivation (which isnt as bad as I was expecting) is breast feeding. No one warned me that the most natural thing in the world doesnt come so naturally to every woman. Over the past 9 weeks I have breast fed, top up fed, settled bub then expressed. Repeat every 2-3 hours. My morning and afternoon tea have looked liked whats in the photo. Not to mention the herbal concoction created by my naturopath to increase milk production, plus the prescribed pharmaceutical Motilium taken a couple of times a day which has the side effect of increased prolactin. All in the name of breast feeding. Why go to so much trouble when there is formula....? Well because my plan is/was to BF for 1 year no matter what! The reason I share this with you is for the simple fact... Not everything goes to plan! This is true throughout pregnancy, labour and postpartum. I believe the sooner you can accept that your birth plan may not go to plan, the more enjoyable the whole experience (before, during and after) is. The sooner you let things just happen and let go of the plan, the happier and less stressed you become. Happy mumma = happy bubba! Becoming a mum has been the hardest, most mind blowing, challenging and wonderful job I have ever had. I am eternally grateful to have a healthy and beautiful baby girl. And feel extremely lucky that I am a woman and get to experience this amazing journey in the way a man cannot. To my daughter Charlie... Thank you for choosing your dad and I. We love you to the moon and back! 💛
