My nurse is so hard to please. Several readings of my BP have - TopicsExpress

My nurse is so hard to please. Several readings of my BP have been around 135/100. She claimed she didnt like the lower number - too high. I suggested she recheck, as mine has been noted to swing wildly without any change in position or emotion, or physical movement. (Good thing I was gifted with a relatively strong heart - because it has had to put up with an awful lot - physically and otherwise.) Well, a couple of times shes checked it while lying down (me - not her :-) ). Thing is, its still around 100, but she says its almost too low. Oh - thats because its the upper number which becomes 100, increasingly, when lying down. Yeah, it still drops when I stand - often by not just 20, but 30 or more points - in either number (no consistency anymore). My aide and I have determined that my body (and mind) are simply adjusting... getting used to the oddities - for most people would be really whacked out in such a physiological state :-) All I can say... is she (my new nurse) had better not come and check me while I sleep. For, my systems start to shut down when I sleep. Oxygen readings have gone at least into the mid 60s (and thats just what I know, from my meter upon awakening). As my previous nurse used to say all the time... Im an anomoly :-) Its kind of like my feet, which swell as much, sometimes more, while lying down... with them elevated... as they do when sitting, or standing. (BTW, standing, they shut down. I know this because I finally checked. My aide kept insisting that I had impaired oxygen flow to my feet due to their color. Yet, when I checked, theyd be okay. So... I had my nurse check - my temp - and she said they dont exist - because the temp was 82 - not low on the foot but pretty high. Well, I checked the oxygen, when standing (as I still stand when doing the dishes... leaning on the counter... with oxygen on from the tank attached to it. And... my pulse disappeared... and with it... my oxygen. Ive noted similar results with my hands. Any pressure is simply too much for the limited pressure to push the blood... and hence oxygen... through. But, without weight on them... the blood flows... and I get oxygen. Hopefully, this helps anyone else out there... who likes to monitor their own bodies. And, just in case any are concerned... I dont check this stuff because Im obsessed with the reading - just curious. I do all sorts of stuff... varying things to see what results occur... hoping to help someone else down the path. And, though this does nothing to help any of us out (unless some researcher reads it and gets an idea), hopefully it can help someone to not worry, rather to learn things we can do to control - at least sometimes - what is going on with our bodies. Or at the very least... understand a little more. For, Ive found... the more we understand... the less we fear.
