My opinion of Obamas MyRA proposal.... There is a reason I no longer buy I Bond savings bonds. True, you can make a little money with them, but you can make SO MUCH MORE investing somewhere else. I said this in a comment and it should be posted for everyone to read. Safe low risk investments with a guaranteed return are a joke. You cannot retire off of them...not unless you are willing to wait 25 to 30 years for your money to domino. Not unless you are willing to put in 80 hour work weeks the rest of your life. The easiest way to retire is to have a strategy that effectively manages risk in your favor. Buy low, sell high. Sit in cash while the market tanks and then go in at the bottom. Never ride the wave down. There are other strategies that might work for you, but even if you dont like mine, can we not both agree that no matter what your plan is it doesnt center on low risk bonds earning peanuts? Hell even a novice investor would make more money on simple dividend stocks. In my opinion this is just more proof that our president has no clue how free markets work, and thinks the government is the solution to everything.
