My opinion of today? Not much different from last season to be honest enough possession and opportunities to make the chances to win the game. But there was a lack of speed and urgency to our play though this is the way Van Gaals system works. Credit to him for changing at half time because it was definitely needed. Defensively it was obvious a leader was needed in many ways all the defenders did ok but were naive and the deficiencies of some were obvious in both goals conceded! Midfield was disappointing to be honest lots of work but nothing cohesive and not a lot of invention, Mata again didnt do enough for me! Rooney was possibly again our best player though in the main because of effort rather than substance! Im afraid much as l like Chicharito he doesnt do enough to warrant a starting position and l think that more than likely means he will leave but if that helps us get one of our targets l think its the right thing to do. I thought all 3 subs did ok Januzaj Fellain and Nani were better without being too effective! The return of Robin Van Persie and Jonny Evans will help and l think Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia will be much better wing backs or full backs depending on the formation! We obviously need new players but that is for the manager to decide who he wants and not just buy for buyings sake! We have lost a battle thats for sure but Van Gaal knows more about todays players when it matters so he can adjust things to improve the team and performance! The season is one game old not the time for judgement or defeatism l believe things will get better!
