My opinion/review about Kochadaiyan: Positives: 1. The visual effects were top notch 2. The performance/motion capture was fantastic as it did really emulate Rajinikanths body language, attitude and style 3. Rajinikanth & Rajinikanth - Both these characters were enormously vibrant ! 4. AR Rahmans phenomenal world-class background score and original music - gave nothing short of goosebumps. 5. The story was well-suited for Rajinikanths charisma, screen presence and heroism for a gripping tale of epic historical drama - kingdom, vengeance, wars and revenge. Well done, KS Ravikumar. 6. Stunt choreography and war sequences were a treat to the eyes. Captivating a very well coordinated choreography and editing. Scopes of improvement: 1. The character animation needs improvement. The emotions of the characters could have been animated better, especially sad emotions could not be distinguished much from normal emotions. 2. The superimposition of virtual character animation over real performance capture needs a better sync. That needs a good amount of improvement. 3. The screenplay was a little slower in the first half and songs were a little way too frequent that disturbed the narrative. 4. Editing in the movie had a lot of fast cuts/trims. Though they did look good on a few fight scenes, they looked a bit recurrent. Editing for a performance capture movie is different from that for a normal movie in that the former should emphasize more on the sync between animation and performance capture than on the stunts. This is a very bold and a brave attempt by Soundarya Rajinikanth. And she has given a very good output, making Indian cinema proud. Especially, given the budget and time constraints she and her team had, she deserves a pat on her shoulders. Of course, there are scopes of improvement but this is no-inferior product. Hats off ! Yet another feather in Rajinis crown !
