My parents, Virgil and Dorothy Waggener, were married in August of 1929 and had jobs (fortunately because the stock market crashed in October of 1929 and the Great Depression began) teaching at Grove Center. My father was the school principal and obviously coached the basketball team. It looks like the ball team won something because one boy is holding a trophy. (Maybe it was track instead of basketball-not sure.) Here is a picture from the 1929-30 school year of my parents and the ball team at Grove Center. They rented rooms in the house of a Mrs. Hooper and my mother played the piano at the Baptist Church for that year.
