My parents never graduated from college but they were without question the smartest people I ever knew. I remember as a kid when dad told me he graduated from the School of Hard Knocks I very seriously asked him where is that located.? One of my older brothers had to pull me aside to explain :)There were a lot of great sayings that parents say that didnt seem so endearing then but now we repeat them with our own children. Sayings like If You going to do something do it right or dont do it at all or Youre just as good as anybody else but you are no better than anybody else- it took a while to figure that one out :) and the old tried and true When life hands you lemons you make lemonade and let me just say in this last election we as Democrats were served a whole bushel of lemons so instead of replaying the tape on 2014 we need to make some serious policy lemonade and not be deterred by the current political atmosphere. Raising the minimum wage is part of that conversation, so is initiating a serious conversation on rebuilding and strengthening the University of Maine and not shrinking it, and so is controlling property taxes for middle class homeowners by reversing the current trends for revenue sharing and aid to education. And there is more but the point is we cant stop talking about tomorrow if you will, about reform, progress, changes,improving our state and our Nation just because of temporary setbacks - we will always have setbacks its how we respond and we recover from them that will be important. And we need to do with a new energy and a new direction.
