My parents were wrong about a lot of things and Ive been wrong about a lot of things as well. Most of you have meet my son and know what kind of kid he is. You should also know one of the things I was wrong about was spanking. I do not spank him. I havent spanked him in years. I stopped because I learned there was no lasting positive effect from spanking. The lasting positive effects are from other forms of discipline, open discussion, spending real time with him, setting reasonable but challenging expectations, making sure he is clear on what my expectations are, being firm but fair, not letting others in his life talk me out of what is right, being as consistent as I possible can and simply doing the hard work good parenting requires. I still get on him hard when he needs it so dont think his life is a piece of cake. I simply learned that spanking him was not what worked best. I am not trying to tell you what to do with your child. I am not suggesting anyone is right or wrong. I am simply sharing with you what I do with my son. You be the judge. youtube/watch?v=3BFuspizMKQ
