My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge... Hosea 4:6 Im tired of hustling. I need a job to take care of my family. Deandre Dear Faithful Friends, Help Us Keep Hope Alive! South Atlantas marginalized and re-entry participants are energized to learn and ready to take advantage of the Greater Works pre-employment/discipleship pilot program created through the strategic partnership between Rebuild The City Inc. and Kinsman Inc. They will have enthusiastic teachers, a great classroom atmosphere and plenty of spirit-filled coaching. 35 Christians who are friends of this ministry hold the key to their success. Why? Because I believe, God will use 35 of you to invest in this pilot program. A program I believe will lead to life change in each of our 12 initial participants, AND life change in hundreds of men like them in the years to come. In this pilot project, we will provide full time entry-level employment contingent upon them completing our mandatory 6-week pre-employment training course. We want all desiring 30315 area code residents to have the tools they need to maintain their Christian walk of accountability and full time employment simultaneously; this is too important an opportunity to go unfunded. Will you help us meet our goal of employing each of our 12 Fishers of Men participants? Our primary long-term focus is to develop Greater Works, a Christian staffing agency specifically tailored to disrupt the vicious cycle of hopelessness and poverty by providing unemployed inner city men employment opportunities coupled with spiritual discipleship and job training. According to the 2010 US Census report: Georgias incarceration rate (0.58%) is second only to the state of Texas Approximately 80% of Atlantas metro area inmates come from two primary zip codes: 30315 and 30318 Thus, the South Atlanta/Lakewood community zip code, 30315, is ground zero for a sustainable job creation and economic transformation strategy. There are several levels to this giving opportunity, and we appreciate your support. We will recognize your gift at our graduation celebration in April 2015, as well as on our web site, and other media platforms. As of today, we need start-up funding of $17,750 to initiate our discipleship/staffing pre-employment program for re-entry participants to launch February 1st, 2015. We are asking 35 of our prayer partners to invest at the levels noted below over the next 12 days to equip Rebuild The City with the power of Christ to transform the lives of these first 12 men: c 15 partners at $250 each c 15 partners at $500 each c 4 partners at $1000 each c 1 partner at $2500 Please prayerfully consider helping us continue to take a bold, relentless and unyielding stand for inner city discipleship programs against the backdrop of ruthless poverty. Please donate on our website @ rebuildthecity.org Greater Works will serve re-entry participants and others desiring individuals with limited financial means who are motivated and committed to creating success in Christ, Career and Family Life. Your gift will have significant impact on their ability to escape poverty and become productive citizens. Thank you for collaborating with our inner city residents and Gods abundant grace for the New Year. Agape Always, Rev. Please see executive summary that includes our budget and other pertinent information about the pilot program. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Rebuild The City Inc. is a 501© 3 nonprofit community organization designed to give a hand to the disenfranchised in South Atlanta. It is a network of organizers, educators, activists, clergy and students---united in our belief that a world free of exploitation, oppression and injustice is possible. We have a record of accomplishment of assisting many homeless people with food, clothing, job preparation and referrals, serving in detention centers, sponsoring inner city rallies and developing a 70-member coalition. These efforts have not gone unnoticed by CNN News who spotlighted our program on their weekly show Faces of Faith. Kinsman Inc., a division of FCS Urban Ministries, is a catalyst for faith-based, holistic community transformation through financial, spiritual, and social empowerment. The vision of Kinsman Inc. is to restore and renew communities as places of purpose, peace, and prosperity for individuals and families to thrive in every area of life. We utilize social entrepreneurial strategies to bring redemptive solutions to impact the mind, body, and spirit of the individuals within communities. Our collaborative initiative is the launch of Greater Works Employment Program. This will be a Christian staffing agency specifically tailored to challenge the vicious cycle of hopelessness by providing unemployed inner city men employment opportunities through spiritual discipleship and job training. This much needed initiative will develop programs and opportunities to assist ex-offenders and other unemployed men in the South Atlanta and Lakewood communities with basic employment skills to equip them to improve their standard of living and position themselves for long-term success. According to the 2010 US Census report, did you know: Georgias incarceration rate is second only to the state of Texas Approximately 80% of Atlantas metro area inmates come from two primary zip codes: 30315 and 30318 Thus, the South Atlanta/Lakewood community zip code, 30315, is ground zero for a sustainable job creation and economic transformation strategy. PILOT PROJECT GOALS To provide 12 men from South Atlanta/Lakewood 6 weeks of intense instruction in our Greater Works Employment Program, which will focus extensively on job readiness training, vocational assessments, and skills training beginning February 1, 2014. To provide promised entry-level jobs, career development and placement, working collaboratively with RTCs Staffing Agency at the end of our 6 weeks basic pre-employment training. To collaborate with Walton Home Industries in providing hands on training in all aspects of apartment complex maintenance and turn-key upkeep to all 12 participants Greater Works differs from typical programs because we place a very strong emphasis on character development, motivation, spirituality, and discipleship. Utilize the key learnings and best practices from the pilot program to continue to expand the program to more participants. EXPECTED OUTCOMES At least 90% of all participants will be gainfully employed by the end of the 6-week pre-employment program. At least 90% of all participants will be provided discipleship training and follow up education for participants during our pre-employment phase and 1-2 years after they have been employed. Expected improvements in the community include family relations, increased economic benefits, lower crime, lower recidivism, and more. We are currently requesting funding to staff 1 program manager and 2 professional trainers for the pilot project period. This team of 3 will collectively devote a total 120 hours weekly to provide support to our participants. Our leadership team will conduct an evaluation at the end of the pilot project. We will gather input from all parties involved, including our team, participants, and employers, and any other relevant stakeholders. The evaluation will assist us in planning for the expansion of the program. Our plan to sustain the program beyond the initial phase is based on monthly email, solicitations, donations from local churches and foundations, contracting with government agencies to provide self-development training for unemployed ex-offenders. In addition, we plan to leverage our services towards complete sustainability in our 2nd phase as a for-profit staffing agency. BUDGET Our budget for the current fiscal 2015 is $17,700 and includes the following line items... We are in partnership with the Georgia State Prison System, the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Parole, Federal Homeless Program, Veteran Homeless Program, National Alliance for Radical Prison Reform, and the Georgia Department of Labors - Top Step Program along with the required clientele for training. Your investment to support this initiative will go to Rebuild the City Inc. and are tax deductible. Please go to our website rebuildthecity.org to make a donation, help spread the word about this powerful initiative, and invite others to participate. You can also make out a check or money order to Rebuild the City Inc. and mail directly to 1563 Jonesboro Road SE, Atlanta, GA 30315. All donated funds to our organization are recorded and reported on IRS form 990 at the end of the fiscal year. Our registration with the Secretary of State Corporation Division and Securities and Regulations Unit are up-to-date. Our financial statements are also available upon request. We look forward to your partnership to help us rebuild our communities by rebuilding lives.
