My personal highs and lows of election day today: HIGH: Jaime - TopicsExpress

My personal highs and lows of election day today: HIGH: Jaime so engrossed in what was going on that she voluntarily stayed to hand out how to vote cards AND got to help scrutineer as well. well done to my switched on young lady LOW: Watching one party volunteer crack it and rip his parties stuff down after being told by a booth officer to stand back where he was meant too. HIGH: Watching people waiting to vote chatting away with each other and then leave the line to help a crying little boy who dropped his sausage. No probs, it took 30 seconds and he had 8 sausages thrust at him by voters with VERY appreciative parents thanking them. LOW: Having a party helper from one party try to surreptitiously pull down the bunting of another party. At least he was discovered and stopped and was sheepish for the rest of his shift. HIGH: Watching the party volunteers from ALL parties making paper planes out of their how to vote cards and entering a competition to see which one had the longest flying card. Having people from 3 different parties entertaining Mitchell and showing him how to make a better paper plane. The booth official though it was so good having everyone working together and having fun. and why not! LOW: Seeing the total negativity some people posted on their social media pages after the government changed hands. The pollies were gracious about it - I wish everyone else would be too. HIGH: Seeing one of my friends working on a booth doing a selfie with his co workers each of different parties. It simply looked awesome. LOW: Knowing that in 4 years we have to go through this all again. HIGH: Knowing that in 4 years we have the privilege of being allowed to go through all of this again. No matter who you voted for today or why, you took part in a democratic process that most of the rest of the world would dream about having. Well done to each and every one for taking part and I hope the next 4 years brings prosperity and stability to all.
