My personal issue with, and analysis of, our school system is that it has done a grave disservice to generation after generation in this nation. It has taken all form of knowledge to be had and condensed it into nothing more than rote memorization. While this may not seem like such a problem, it can result in nothing more than a multitude of people dropped at lifes doorstep with minimal preparation and a debilitating handicap. As memorization is not synonymous with application, we are immersed in a society where anyone can memorize a list of information, or anothers spiritual reflections. Regurgitating epiphanies and conclusions with no real knowledge or understanding of what theyre repeating. Yet, there is a failure in the ability to apply the information or truths that said person has so pridefully retained and recited. Many have no idea where to begin. And so, we are a nation of people floating through life on a string of memory with no basis, footing, or ability for application or realization. We, nor our children, are drones to be force fed a list of letters and numbers for calculated output. May we one day recognize that we are not merely human-beings, and in this learn to become a nation of humans-being. ☮
