My phone wont take a picture or video that does justice to what Im seeing and hearing, so here goes: My mind knows that the atmosphere is playing tricks, but my eyes refuse to believe that the moon isnt somehow closer and larger than its ever been. Through the haze, it beams out across the sea, a pale golden river, shimmering and leading to the edge of the sky. White-peaked waves crash against the shore as the gulf slowly retreats to the inky blue line on the horizon, exposing living miracles in calcified stars, discs and spirals. I stand next to a sandcastle, painstakingly shaped as if some little artist was trying to build upon and share the fairytale magic that the gulf invokes in anyone who touches its coastline. I know there are others near me, but the whooshing rumble of the undulating tide drowns them out, a separateness even in our proximity. I am a spec in a mighty galaxy and I am at peace. THIS is life.
