My plan is to hand over most of the offices duties over to a reasonably furnished, high-quality personal computer that sits in some corner of the State Capitol, while I only accept a part-time salary and work to abolish the position, said job consisting of publishing the laws passed by the legislature and keeping and affixing the Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin to acts of the Governor, etc. In other words, the Secretary of State runs a blog and a printer and is responsible for a clipart image and fancy stamp. That costs half a million dollars a year and seven to eight full-time employees. During my term of four years, I pledge to accurately copy and paste the text sent to me by the Legislature, and studiously prevent the Governor of Wisconsin from using said aforementioned clipart image and/or fancy stamp in any fraudulent manner. It can be kept in a safe sitting on top of that computer in the corner somewhere. I wont even give him (or her) a key for it, until such time as two successive legislatures and the good people of the state of Wisconsin decide that this weighty responsibility can be entrusted to one of other numerous and indispensable public servants, and I may happily resign the office with no successor.
