My poor trainer, the marvellous Renee, got salmonella poisoning while in Costa Rica, on a vacation with her family after getting her yoga instructors credential. It got into her blood attacked her hip joint, which is how she found out about it -- she suddenly stopped being able to walk. The Emerg staff admitted her to the hospital, but it took two days for them to figure out what was wrong, although they managed to stop her septicemia from getting worse. (In a sense, you could say she was lucky -- it didnt attack her heart or her kidneys or liver; people have died from precisely that.) She spent a week in the hospital and now has to have IV antibiotics every day (she has a PIC line but can do the IVs herself, at least) until February. Between my physical condition and her being still kind of on crutches, gym session today was kind of the halt training the lame. Folks, if youre in less-developed countries, dont eat street food, and dont eat any fruit or vegetable you cant either cook or peel.
