My post at Lost Daughters asking non-adopted guests in adoptee-centric spaces to please stop making critiques when the content isnt appealing to them or asking for new content to be written....has ironically gained quite a few of these requests/critiques in its comments section. Maybe it doesnt seem like a big deal to critique or make demands of adoptees in our spaces. Its OK for the larger adoption community to ask adoptees for feedback, follow-up, and clarification when respectful dialogue between constellation members is the purpose of the space. However, in an adoptee-centric space, these same demands communicate to adoptees that spaces that meet our needs arent satisfactory if we do not also appeal to members of the adoption community that have more power than us. And, that our spaces arent good enough if they meet our needs alone.
