My post on the state of Illinois going to pass the gay marriage bill. One thing that is very interesting in this whole discussion that is not allowed to happen without people getting upset is this. I see friends posting how excited they are about this. Ok... so be it. Im not going to tell people they cannot do what this state is going to proceed with. The state will do what it does as well as the people that will do what they do. The state does not speak for me and does not dictate my beliefs. I shouldnt have to embrace it or even agree with it. I still care about people. No matter who they sleep with, the color of their skin, or even who they voted for ;), or any other number of catagories. If you really know me, you will know this to be true. We are all human beings and are here to help each other out. But when someone says that they disagree with it, then they are somehow evil people because they choose not to agree and accept the lifestyle. The desire for acceptance in some of these things is odd. You can be who you are without my having to agree with you. People in the church are often called intolerant. People are just as intolerant on the other side of any issue. I guess the question is this. Is it possible to get along with someone when you dont agree with everything they do? Or, do we in this society only surround ourselves with people who are exactly like us?
