Here is from Haley : Gina and Jason have two boys (9 & 7) who both are affected by a neurodegenerative disease, called mitochondrial disease. This disease robs them of their much needed energy that is required to supply all their organs in their body for vital function. Currently there is no cure or treatment for mitochondrial disease (or Mito for short). The Blairs have gone all over the country to find the best doctors to help treat their children. UC Irvine, Cleveland Clinic, Atlanta, Boston, Stanford & LA. After many years of not knowing what particular type of mito the boys have, they recently found their diagnosis thru a highly specialized lab & the physician who runs it. They will be traveling to this physician in December of this year & every 3 months subsequently. This physician does not accept insurance so they will have to privately pay for these appointments. Not to mention the travel costs associated with this such as gas, hotel & food. Thank you so very much for your assistance in helping this family trying to provide he very best care & quality of life for their children.
