My previous post is Randy Pausch, author of The Last Lecture. Most who know me will tell you people do not impress me. Yes, people have done great things, honorable things. What I am talking about is I live my life knowing that in the morning when we wake, we all hit the floor on two feet and put them in our pants the same way. One leg at a time. What puts most people on top of the list for me are actions, good, giving, unselfish actions. This man took the remaining days of his life to reach out and touch ours, even if it only sank in to one. I am definitely one. Ironically, I read his book about 2 years ago. He died of pancreatic cancer. At this point I had no idea that I myself had cancer. I was looking at some motivational videos online, as Im prone to do now days, and this video popped up. In part of it he spoke of his father and how he was a WWII vet, when his father passed they found a Bronze Star in his belongings. It made me remember his book and something I had done to it. If you cant read it, it says: Kids, I read this book, yes I did! It took me awhile but I finally finished it. No, Im not dying!! But if you should be going thru my things. READ THIS BOOK!! One mans view on life, mainly the end of it, will add volumes to yours. He said about his children: I love all of them completely and differently. Thats the way I love all of you. Im writing this because this week coming up June 26 to be exact is when we found out I had prostate cancer. Like I said, irony. But this isnt about aww or sorry or shocked looks on faces. F*#k cancer. Its about a year of transformation, reflection and determination. Most men in my family get sick and wait to die. No way in hell!! Im sitting here today to let you all know that you can change your life, all you have to do is make the choice! I did! More to come, done with the cancer talk, NEXT!!!!!! PS My kids dont normally go thru my things lol
