My private lessons learnt during last year, which areinstigated and inspired by Euromaidan and the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity (Well, this is one of those posts, when I do not know how I would end it up). Tomorrow it will be exactly 1 year when Euromaidan started. Some of you may say 1 year is 1 year. But not in our case. For those, who have lived it through here in Ukraine, 1 year equals more years. Sometimes I am joking that it is like with dogs: 1 year = 7 years. Who knows. Well, here are my lessons learnt: 1) It is NOT true that victims (lost human lives) were meaningless. Unfortunately, this wonderful country and increadible society have lost many of their best people. First, during Maidan (starting from January) and then during the Independence War (the war for a real independence of Ukraine). More than 4 thousands people died! But their sacrifice and the terrible pain of their closest family, relatives and friends HAVE A MEANING! ГЕРОЇ НЕ ВМИРАЮТЬ! ГЕРОЯМ ВІЧНА ПАМЯТЬ ТА СЛАВА! 2) When you face the Mordon, Forces of the Dark, you have to stay close by your friends and support them! 3) If you make concessions to the Mordon (Forces of the Dark), you are doomed to witness even more victims and sacrifices. The only way is to stay firm and uncompromised. The evil is EVIL. You cannot make deals with the Mordor. 4) We were born FIRST as Human Beings, Individuals, Persons, Citizens and only then we have become diplomats, officials, clerks, businessmen. This is to say that at the key moment ONE HAS to clearly express wn views, positions and HAS to forget about those limits that are linked with the profession you might currently have. Oh, I have been experiencing this dilema so often during this year... :-) This is all about PRIVATE opinion vs. PROFESSIONAL behaviour/conduct (here, I recall my FB post from 27 August). :-) 5) We have to act in such a way that children would not blame us one day that we have missed the opportunity to be just, normal, human. We are so much tempted (I mean foreigners, not Ukrainians) to be opportunistic... OK, these might be the most important lessons that I have learned. Now few observations: 1) I am sure that we have been witnessing the making of History during this last year. We might still not be fully aware in what sort of Historic moments we have been living here. 2) And again, I cannot forget about those victims, about those people, who lost the most precious God´s gift - own life... Often, I have a bad consciousness that I still do live and they are dead. Or many young guys are wounded, injured and would remain for the rest of their lives disabled...Why them? Why not me? What went wrong with their Destiny? Many of them were the brightest people of this country? Is God punishing them and their closest people for something? Is it just? Where is the Justice? Frankly speaking, I do not have the answer to these questions... BUT! I know one think - I will do my best to make sure that their victims and sacrifies would not a) be forgotten and b) more importantly, they would not remain meaningless. And this is my engine, the engine of my actions and the remedy for my consciousness. Before concluding this post, I would also like to find out how come W. Churchill knew this: “The Fascists of the future will be the anti-fascists.”? :-) He was perfectly right! And I have been thinking about his quote pretty often this year, when I was hearing words like Kyiv junta, Ukrainian Fascists... And now, finalising this chaotic post, I want to thank my wife and my kids, with whom I have gone through all of this and who have been also actively indifferent. I am sure that this one extraordinary year has left a very deep trace in our family. СЛАВА УКРАЇНІ! ХАЙ ЛЮБОВ ТА ПРАВДА ПЕРЕМОЖУТЬ БРЕХНЮ ТА НЕНАВІСТЬ!
