My rant for the day. I am on several local swap and mom to mom sites on Facebook. Just came across a post that stated Iso (in search of) a puppy for Christmas. First off, with working at a place that is HEAVILY involved with animal rescue, rule number one is NEVER. EVER. EVER give an animal as a gift. A DOG OR A CAT IS A MINIMUM OF A 10 to 15 and possibly 20 year investment. Is the person receiving the dog willing to give up time in their lives for training, vet care, etc? Also, what type of puppy is this person looking for to give? Puppies can be anything from a 2 to 3 pound teacup Yorkie to a 150 pound and up Great Dane, Mastiff, or Rottweiler. Last, the post itself is just plain STUPID!!! Are you that freakin dumb of a person that you cant look online for rescue groups, or maybe even drive (heaven help you) to your local animal shelter? Its not like there is a shortage of dogs and cats, people! We, as a society, are still euthanizing millions of adoptable dogs and cats each year.
