What do you think of books that utilize flashbacks done through journal entries? Do you skim all those Italicized sections? I have a heroine who is uncovering info about a man who lived over two centuries ago and she has parts of his journal. Ive heard it said that some readers will often bypass these sections completely. Any thoughts? I know Erin McCarthy, one of my faves, has used this technique well in her PNRs.
