My recent observation is that in our society and more specifically in Karachi, men are mostly inclined to one of two extremes when it comes to extended family dynamics. Some are completely under their wives control practically cutting off their parents and siblings and socializing with in laws or friends. Others are controlled by their mothers and sisters abusing their wives. My analysis is that one major factor contributing to this inability to maintain balance is that these men were controlled and not disciplined while growing up. Lack of discipline results in character flaws. Thus it is not values and vision that govern their lives but the desire to please and avoidance of conflict; inability to assert themselves is what takes hold and they dont even realize this. What is your experience and opinion in this regard?
