My recommended to-do list for any future provocative cartoons - TopicsExpress

My recommended to-do list for any future provocative cartoons claiming to depict the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). 1. Ignore, ignore, ignore. The Quran is very clear, Turn away from the ignoramus 7:199 2. Dont give it any free publicity. If you look at all previous incidents of cartoons or movies claiming to insult Prophet Muhammad, it was mainly Muslims, unintentionally of course, who made them popular. 3. Learn how Prophet dealt with critics, EVEN IN MEDINA. The best example I can think of is Abdullah bin Ubay bin Salool. This man hated the Prophet so much. He defied the Prophet after Uhud by saying, When we go back to Madinah, the honorable (meaning himself) will kick out the lowly (meaning the Prophet). Do you realize that his very insulting words were quoted in the Quran 63:8 for us to read up till today? Have you thought of the wisdom behind that? His insults were *documented* in the Quran! Yet, the Prophet didnt do anything to him. In fact, he prayed on him after he died and used his cloak to wrap his corpse in hope that some mercy will reach him. 4. The Quran clearly states that Prophet Muhammad was nothing but a mercy to all the worlds 21:107. Try to embody that mercy. Dont you let any Muslim or non-Muslim take that away! 5. Channel your emotions towards something good and productive. Learn a new Sunnah of the Prophet and implement it in your life. Learn about his prayer, his hygiene, his fasting, his supplications, his remembrance of God, etc. This is the best way to show your love of the Prophet and to defend the Prophet. 6. Increase your Salat on the Prophet. Do you know that the Salat of Allah upon the Prophet means the lofty mention and praise for the Prophet in front of the angels? Imagine as some people curse the Prophet on this Earth due to their lack of knowledge of who the Prophet was, Allah and the angels will praise the Prophet high in the Heavens in the meantime due to your Salat-ala-Nabiyy? 7. Refrain from citing stories you dont fully understand. One common story is that of Kab bin al-Ashraf who reportedly was ordered to be killed by the Prophet due to the fact that Kab was saying poetry insulting the Prophet. This story requires more in depth analysis since the same person also went to Mecca and incited the Quraish tribe to attack the Muslims in Medina. This amounted to an act of war back then. There are several narrations that clearly show this side of Kab that MANY rash people conveniently ignore! 8. Dont even say cartoon of the Prophet, because it is NOT. We know for certain that what theyre drawing doesnt remotely resemble the mightiest disbeliever at that time, let alone the best human who walked the Earth! Those people lost even the slightest taste of what real art is. 9. Make dua for those people. Yes pray for the cartoonists, the most vile ones. Theyre not worse than ibn Salool. Pray for their guidance. 10. Pray for me if you benefited from any of the above By Anas Hlayhel :)
