My reflection for today: I served as a volunteer at Samaritan - TopicsExpress

My reflection for today: I served as a volunteer at Samaritan House, in Denver, CO, the largest shelter in the Rocky Mountains area, where I learned much about the homeless and myself. The would have, could have and should have statements were discouraged when interviewing and dealing with residents because they were thought to generate unnecessary feelings of guilt and depression among them. The better alternative statements included is it working for you?, let me know how I can help you help yourself, and take responsibility for yourself. They posited personal decision making and present commitments, the thought being that otherwise there would be little if any chance of a resident changing her or his behavior for her or his current and future betterment. So, this morning I will not look back over the last 67 years and ask how many times I could have chosen but opted not to accept and live my Lord and Creators plan for me. Instead, this morning I say here I am my Lord and Creator...please enable me today and everyday from now to cheerfully accept and live Your way. Thank You. *** have a great day and take care Luke 1:26-38 (Announcement of the birth of Jesus) I am the handmaid of the Lord,’ said Mary ‘let what you have said be done to me.
