My reminder to be thankful for all that I have.... I had seen the children in this photo up begging for money at 5:30 a couple of mornings at the gate going into the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve. Doing what all the travel guidebooks told me, I wouldnt make eye contact with them and ignored their requests. After about three days of doing that, I went into the village close to the gate one day during the break between safaris. While I was inside one of the small shops there looking for some souvenirs, I looked out one of the windows and saw these two digging through a pile of trash just off the side of the road. I left the shop and walked over to a roadside stand and purchased an armful of chips and signaled for the children to come over. I ended up with seven happy kids surrounding me to each get a bag of the Indian version of Cheetos. The next day I went back to the village again during our lunch break and this time I went to a produce dealer and purchased a sack of apples for the children. You would have thought that I had given them a new Xbox based upon how excited they were. After I handed them the bag they ran down the street a little ways to a shade tree next to the road and stopped to eat some of the apples. I snapped this photo as they were running towards the tree. To me, the photo captured that perfect split second where not a single foot is touching the ground.
