My response to a friend who asked my about concentration camps in these united states...I have heard of large FEMA camps located at various areas around the country and honestly, I havent done a lot of study on the subject. It is obvious to anyone that is keeping up with the news that the desire of many at least in the federal government and even many in state governments, that they desire to make the citizenry manageable, which necessarily requires a loss of liberty. This is done with the excuse that we need to keep everyone safe. I believe there are legitimate public safety concerns, but these do not negate the protections afforded to us by the federal and state constitutions. I believe that our founders realized that their experiment was one that might have to be repeated in the future in our country, and wanted us to be prepared in that event. Now, there is more to that than individuals running around in the woods with guns, it is more about the organized militia, sanctioned and structured by the state government. Now, since the death of our Republic, which began under Lincoln during the war of Northern Aggression, we have seen the declension of state power, and the centralization of it in Washington DC. Now, we are seeing a slight resurgence of state resistance and this is an exciting trend, but there needs to be much more. State governments are shaking in their boots over federal dictates and directives. Even here in Pennsylvania, the State Police are busting small games of chance during the Super Bowl time because it is contrary to federal law, even though state legislation has passed to allow it. This is one of our greatest concerns, the states were designed to work with the people, it was the people of these united states, not The United States. The state governments were to interpose, to protect the people from federal overreach. This is why the state legislatures were to originally appoint their Senators, rather than the current popular election. I am concerned that unless we see a rise of federalism once again, we may indeed be in danger of these type of camps for the non-compliant, those who think out of the box, and especially those who organize any type of resistance to tyranny.
