My response to the extension of negotiations with Iran over their nuclear program: Its frustrating that after a year of negotiations we appear to be no closer to a deal with Iran and news of this extension does not inspire any confidence for the prospects of reaching an agreement. Irans record of human rights abuses, supporting terrorist organizations, and violating international norms does not warrant any further flexibility or capitulation from Western negotiators. Any deal that stops short of ensuring Iran never obtains the capacity to develop a nuclear weapon would represent a major threat to American security and the security of our allies in the region, mainly Israel. If the Iranian regime wants relief from sanctions they must agree to make major reductions in their enrichment program and allow international inspectors unfettered access to their nuclear sites.
