My responser to the discussion this am on the grill on Nines Today Show: In response to the grill this morning. Yes you do harm by sitting in your studio telling Australia what Aboriginal people need and what you think are our problems. You sit and judge the SBS show First Contact with cynical views, yet you do not allow us the right to show Australia that these views and opinions are what we face everyday. The smart and nasty comments about us being lazy, welfare bludgers etc. For too long Government and media have told Australia what to think of us and now we have a show that is honest and gives you a good hard look at how you treat the first people of this nation and you seem to be offended. I do congratulate Carl for telling you all that it was inappropriate for 4 white people to sit and decide what Aboriginal people want and need. We know what we want, we know what we need we have not however been given the chance to have our voices, opinions and cultural practices heard. We have been inundated with do gooders telling us what we need and how to fix us. We werent damaged and did not need fixing until white man invaded our lands and began enforcing his voice, opinions and beliefs upon us. That does damage and now people say get over it. We suffer from trans generation trauma created by Government policies, media spin and do-gooders. When this all stops we may have a chance to heal and get on with it The first step in stopping racism is to shine a light and make people think and question their beliefs. This is what this show is doing!
