My roots are gone. I am genuinely a happy man. But I am human- some say alien... Been a decade this year since the last of my family, my roots left. Keep reminding myself of Janis Joplins words: Freedom is just another word of nothing left to lose. So I am free. Except for those pains in the back of my brain. Yeah I keep pushing them back. Toughen up I tell myself. Got a new life going. A really good life I have now. Friends- wonderful people. But I know in reality they can never fill that gap. They dont share my history. And I really hate boring them with my stories. Who really wants to hear an old mans rants and history? No one really. Old saying I learned in Brooklyn NY back in my university days- yeah got me an education up east. They would say: That is dead and stinking like old Abraham Lincoln. So I got with it- help from friends. Found a new life. But I have my moments. Seldom share those moments.... Get back with it. I tell folks to live in the moment. Get it now. Yesterday is dead and gone. Tomorrow out of sight. Lot of truisms in songs. Few years back I decided I wanted to live on a houseboat- so I bought one and moves all of me onto it. Boat sunk- thank you storm!!! Lost all. But not my memories. So my freedom roars like a wild bear in the woods. Naked for all to see. And I have no shame of it or because of it. I instead pity those who dont have true freedom. Bogged down with rules that restrict their lives. Rules of culture, rules of religion. Such a waste. Hey folks- break the chains, lose the superstitions. If there is a god he would want you to break free. He or she would not want you flocking to a building to get trained to restrict yourself by man made teachings. Time is ticking.... second hand swiping over the watch dial. ANd let me tell you that when you draw your last breath that second hand doesnt stop- it keeps on going even when you dont. It isnt about you or me. It is about all of us. It isnt about what happens after death- hell over the thousands of years many folks have created all sorts of crazy stories about that one.
